During the next few weeks we will bring, what has been a fantatastic season for us, up to date and explain in detail the options for making a reservation with us in 2011.

253 Carp caught during April with an average weight of 14.75kg (32.08lb) Totalling: 3731.75kg.
77 x 20′s (54 of them over 25lb)
139 x 30′s (37 of them over 35lbs)
37 x 40′s (5 of them over 45lbs)

 It’s a bit of a mixed  up 1st catch report although a very encouraging one…

It all began with our booking agent in Holland arriving along with 4 other anglers to fish a long weekend on the big lake and hopefully get some good footage to make a video. They arrived Friday 2nd April and within an hour or so they were organising there bivvys on etang Louane.

We had frosts in the morning and hailstones in the day for the 1st 24hrs and then lots of rain and then upto 20c over the next 72hrs. Despite the crazy weather; the fishing was good and when we arranged a flight over the lakes in a gryo-copter and got some superb photos and filmed the lakes too, it felt like it was a great start to the season. The fishing on the lake produced 24 carp, 18 of them over 30lb and topped by mirrors of 44lb and 46lb.

We’ve had a lot of people asking for a map of the lakes with the swims marked on, so here it is…..

We will now work on this over the next week or so and the final version will allow you to click on each swim for more detail along with some photo’s of the swim itself and the water in front.

I was building a new swim on etang Angele when the phone rang, it was Jean Noel phoning to say he was on his way with 5 nice carp that he’d caught whilst emptying a lake that morning…..

 Each time Jean noel lifted a fish from the tank i kept saying wow that’s another beauty. And then he lifted this one out of the tank!!

The 5 fish are all stunning and i wouldn’t mind seeing any of them in my net one day. They weighed 28lb, 33lb, 35lb, 37lb and the big girl weighed 48lb (22kg). Amazingly, this fish was weighed and returned to it’s lake 2 winters ago at 24lb(11kg) so she has doubled in weight putting on 24lb in 2 years!

We completed the netting of Angele (19acre) this week and although we only caught around 75% of the fish in the nets it was still a very successful vidange. We removed over 1 tonne of Carp and Catfish which will help maintain the lakes incredible progress.

As you can see from the photos, we still had a big surface area of water which made the job more difficult but with such a big stock of fish and the lake being very shallow it was the best way for us to work as we had enough depth to put the carp straight back in the lake rather than into holding pools.

We caught 7 big Catfish from 52lb to just over 100lb which we moved into lake Sacha along with 66 carp between 15lb and 25lb including a few of the Ghosties.

 

Now, the carp… We caught 340 carp with the net including over 150×30′s and 20×40′s plus another 100+ carp above 25lb. Add to this the fish we already have pictures of including several high 30′s and low 40′s that we missed with the net and the fact that we removed 66 of the smaller fish between 15lb and 25lb and you can understand why we are very excited about this lake for 2010. Now that the ice has finally gone, Jean noel is fishfarming again and immediately took a liking to a small batch of young fish from a lake he drained today, again they were stocked in the big lake ( Louane )

The fishfarming season is in full swing and we have now stocked 24 Carp this Winter…..So Far.  These fish have been selected from 100′s of carp that we have so far handled and all of them were under 15lb just two years ago.  We are really pleased with how things are going and the best part is we haven’t even collected our real gems yet!!

Just a quick note to tell you all about the latest additions to the fishery.

We stocked 12 carp into the big lake this week (14th November 2009) these fish were from 30lb to 40lb and will soon be joined by more fish as we collect them from the holding lakes this winter. Hurry up and get your carp fishing holiday for 2010 booked at the best carp fishing lakes in France

We plan to add around 50 new fish to the top lake including 10 fish over 44lb (20kg)
